Optical Lenses
We are specialists in all types of lenses. At KINGS we pride ourselves in customising the best lenses for you, we discuss all the available options with you. Whatever lens selection you make you can be assured that it will be of high quality and edged into the frame safely and accurately. Our high tech in-house lab will provide you with the latest thin lenses which are usually available in one hour.
Optical lenses available:
• High Refractive Index lenses - The higher the refractive index the less substance of lens that is required to bend or focus the light. There are high index versions of plastic or glass which can be used to help improve the cosmetics of your spectacles (how thick or thin the lenses are). We can also provide glass lenses by special request.
• Single vision lenses - A one-power lens designed to give accurate focus, for distance, computer and or reading.
• Bifocals - A two-power lens designed to give accurate focus for distance and computer or reading. These are Fused together there are two different powers incorporated into the one lens, with part of the lens being dedicated to distance vision at the top and the lower part having a definite area (segment) given to view close work. The segments usually can be made with different shapes
• Varifocals / Multifocals - The top zone of the lens is dedicated to distance vision and the lower area to close work but there is a gradual transition from one to the other. A multi-power lens gradually changing in focus from distance at the top, to close reading at the bottom. This is the preferred option for many as there are no visible lines or power jump as associated with bifocal lenses. There are minimal areas of blurring or distortion at the edges of the reading area.
We can also offer a wide range of types of varifocals where these are minimised. We are one of the few opticians able to supply the very latest individually designed varifocals to suit your visual requirements from our own bespoke "Kings" brand to leading manufacturers Essilor, Kodak, Nikon, Pentax Zeiss and more...
Please ask us about the new frame fit digitally designed varifocal allowing you to benefit from the largest possible areas of clear vision - close up, at arms length and in the distance.
There are many other options available, which we will be happy to discuss with you, these include: modern Thinner and lighter lenses, tints, Photochromatic lenses, and to enhance your vision Anti-reflection coatings and Polarised lenses.
